Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Teach Journalism course content.

  • Evaluate students' written work and student news stories.

  • Administer department exams.

  • Post information to Learning Management Software (CANVAS).

  • Complete assessment assignments.

  • Teach news writing, research skills, interviewing skills, and news gathering techniques.

  • Submit semester documents including, but not limited to, syllabus, exams, gradebooks, attendance, and participation rosters.

  • Willingness to teach courses in-person at multiple campus locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Journalism, Communication, Communication Studies, Mass Communication, or a related field.

  • Experience teaching journalism.

  • 15 credits of graduate coursework in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Mass Communication, OR equivalent terminal degree with experience in Journalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 30 credits of coursework in Journalism, Communication, Mass Communication, or a related field.

  • Two years' experience teaching college journalism courses.
