JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Abington's Science and Engineering Division is accepting applications for an Information Technology Instructor for part-time appointments for 2025 to 2026 Academic Year. We are looking for dedicated educators who are passionate about preparing students for success in the rapidly evolving field of information technology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Information Technology courses, covering topics such as:

  • Programming principles and languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#)

  • Networking and cybersecurity fundamentals

  • Database management and SQL

  • IT project management and systems analysis

Courses may be delivered in various formats, including in-person, hybrid, or online. Instructors are expected to foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment, incorporate industry-relevant content, and support student success through mentorship and guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the information technology field. This experience must include practical, hands-on involvement in areas such as systems administration, software development, network management, database management, cybersecurity, IT project management, or other relevant domains. Experience leading projects, managing teams, or contributing to innovative IT solutions is also required.

Additional Qualifications
  • A strong commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and support a diverse student population.

  • Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred.

  • Flexibility in course scheduling and delivery methods is highly desirable.
