How much do part time janitor jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 14, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time janitor in Delaware is $15.91, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $13.70 and $17.55 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does a part time janitor do?

A part time janitor is responsible for cleaning and maintaining buildings such as offices, schools, or public facilities. Their duties typically include sweeping, mopping, emptying trash bins, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies. Working part time means they may work evenings, early mornings, or weekends, depending on the employer's needs. Janitors play a key role in keeping environments hygienic and pleasant for occupants.

What is the highest paying janitor?

The highest paying janitor positions are typically found in specialized environments such as hospitals, airports, or large commercial facilities, where experience, certifications, and working hours can increase pay. Salaries can reach above $20 per hour in some cases, especially for supervisory roles or those with advanced skills and responsibilities.

Is a janitor a part-time job?

A janitor position is often available as a part-time job, with many roles offering flexible hours to accommodate different schedules. Part-time janitor jobs typically require basic cleaning skills and may not include benefits, making them suitable for those seeking temporary or supplemental work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Janitor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Janitor, you need basic cleaning knowledge, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, floor buffers, and safe use of cleaning chemicals is typically required. Reliability, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are valuable soft skills. These competencies ensure a clean, safe environment and contribute to the smooth operation of facilities.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A part-time janitor typically does not earn $10,000 a month; such high earnings usually require full-time work, specialized skills, or management positions. Generally, high-paying jobs without a degree are rare and often involve entrepreneurship, sales, or skilled trades with experience and certifications. Most part-time cleaning roles pay hourly wages that are below this threshold unless combined with multiple jobs or overtime.

Part time janitors typically do not earn $2000 a day, as their pay is usually hourly and modest. High-paying jobs that can reach this level include specialized consulting, executive roles, or certain freelance professions, but these are generally full-time or require significant experience and skills. Most part time cleaning positions pay much less per day.

What are the typical daily responsibilities for a part time janitor, and how does the role interact with other staff members?

As a part time janitor, your daily tasks usually include cleaning and sanitizing common areas, emptying trash bins, sweeping and mopping floors, and restocking supplies in restrooms. You may also be responsible for reporting maintenance issues to management. Janitors often work independently but frequently communicate with other staff, such as facility managers or office personnel, to coordinate cleaning schedules and address specific needs. Good communication and flexibility are important, especially when working in active environments like schools or offices.
