Job description

Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is a national nonprofit that provides community-based alternatives to youth incarceration and residential placement. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, YAP partners with youth justice, child welfare, behavioral health, and education systems to deliver individualized, wraparound services that keep youth safely in their homes and communities.
YAP's model focuses on building strong relationships with youth and families, connecting them to local resources, and supporting positive life outcomes through strength-based, culturally responsive approaches. Advocates work directly in the community to help participants develop skills, meet goals, and strengthen family and community connections
Status: Part-Time Hourly
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Summary of Position: Hourly, Part-Time positions serving youth and families throughout Isabella County,
  • Applicants must be dependable, committed, and positive role model to serve youth and families in schools, communities, and in the homes.
  • Primary Responsibilities of the Advocate are to initiate, organize, plan, develop, and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participants and their families.
  • All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model

Position offers flexible hours, competitive weekly pay, and activity reimbursement.
Availability: Flexible, Non-Traditional Hours, Evenings and Weekends may be required.
Hourly Pay: $17.50 per hour
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and families
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Proficient Computer Skills and Microsoft Office, Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems is a plus
  • Bilingual (Spanish) Speaking a plus.
  • Required to have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance coverage.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends
