POSITION PURPOSE:
The pharmacist is responsible for pharmacy management including full-service daily functions of the pharmacy
ensuring proper preparation, review, verification, and dispensation of prescribed medication. The pharmacist
provides a positive customer service experience in accordance with the organization's mission. The pharmacist will
support efficient workflows in receiving and dispensing medications and inventory. The pharmacist will oversee and
direct the pharmacy technician staff and provide education to patients to enhance the customer experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Guides leadership on running a pharmacy in the Roseburg clinic as well as ability to dispense to outlying Aviva Health clinics
  • Works collaboratively with the 340B Program Manager to oversee the 340B program
  • Works with multidisciplinary health care team to provide drug information and assist in monitoring patient drug therapies
  • Works with Aviva Health leadership and staff to optimize pharmacy operations and to achieve the goals, objectives, and budget established by Aviva Health's Board of Directors
  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities
  • Packages, labels, and dispenses medication
  • Responsible for supervising and directing technicians' workflows, including verifying prescription entries, preparation of medications, and labeling of medications
  • Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies
  • Develops clinical staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in provider meetings and training health care professionals, residents, and students
  • Complies with all state and federal drug laws, including, but not limited to, those as regulated by the state board of pharmacy and the drug enforcement administration
  • Maintains records for controlled substances and removes outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory
  • Maintains current registration, is aware of existing and new legislation, anticipates legislation, and advises management and leadership on needed actions
  • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA regulations
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, and contributes in maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school graduate or equivalent education.
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) required; Pharm.D preferred
  • Valid Oregon state pharmacist license
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification will be provided upon hire
  • At least two (2) years of professional job experience
  • 340B pharmacy knowledge a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and legal compliance
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of individuals at various levels under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy
  • Utilizes sound professional and clinical judgement in caring for patients with various mental health conditions
  • Passionate about providing high quality care to low-income, underserved residents in healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work with people in various environments
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products and computers
  • Willingness to learn electronic medical record as necessary to perform the duties of the job
  • Communicate with clarity, both verbally and in writing, to groups and individuals
