At Utah Valley University, tutors play a meaningful role in helping students achieve their academic goals and build confidence in their abilities. This position provides the opportunity to work one-on-one with K-16 students, offering personalized support in upper-division Math, Science, English, or Business subjects. Through individualized instruction, encouragement, and mentorship, tutors help students strengthen their understanding of course material and develop the skills needed for academic success.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide individualized one-on-one tutoring to K-16 students in upper-division Math, Science, English, or Business subjects.
- Support student learning, academic skill development, and confidence through personalized instruction and encouragement.
- Help students understand course concepts, complete assignments, and achieve academic goals.
- Monitor, track, and document student progress and tutoring outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and notes for all tutoring sessions.
- Communicate regularly with the Education Counselor regarding student progress, needs, and concerns.
- Foster a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes student success.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of experience tutoring or demonstrating advanced proficiency in the subject area.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Advanced knowledge in math, science, business, or English.
- Advanced knowledge in other areas, such as languages and the social sciences, will be considered.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Skills in maintaining accurate records for official files.
- Ability to relate to a diverse population of students.
- Ability to follow through with assignments, schedules, and appointments.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism.
- Ability to work independently with dependability.
