  FLSA: Exempt   Temporary/Continuing:  Continuing   Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time   Union Group: N/A   Term of Position: 12 Month   At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause   Summary of Position: Reporting to the Director of Digital Experience, the Digital Marketing Specialist, Web Content is responsible for developing and maintaining engaging, search-optimized website content that supports Ferris State University's marketing and enrollment efforts.
This role collaborates across departments to manage web updates, oversee academic program landing pages, and support internal communications.
They also play a critical role in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy, keyword tracking, and organic content development to improve search rankings and user engagement.
The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future. The university will not assist with any F-1 EADs, OPT, H-1 B, etc.   Position Type: Staff   Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.   Required Work Experience: 2+ years of professional experience (including internships) in website content creation, SEO strategy, and/or digital communications.
Hands-on experience with web content management systems (Omni CMS, WordPress, Drupal, or similar).
Strong understanding of SEO best practices, keyword tracking, and content optimization.
Experience writing and managing web content, blogs, and long-form digital content.   Required Licenses and Certifications:     Physical Demands:

Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and accessibility best practices (WCAG, ADA compliance).   Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Develop and maintain engaging, search-optimized web content that supports university marketing efforts.
Collaborate with departments across campus to update key webpages and ensure content accuracy.
Oversee the development and optimization of academic program landing pages to improve engagement and conversion.
Support marketing operations by creating landing page content for paid campaigns as needed.
Manage Ferris360 (student/employee portal), internal communications, ensuring critical updates reach students and employees.
Contribute to SEO strategy, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and site performance tracking.
Track and analyze organic search performance and make recommendations for improvements.
Develop and manage blog and long-form content to drive organic traffic growth.
Provide training for new website editors to ensure consistency and usability across the university website.
Collaborate with web developers to develop landing pages and website features.
Operate a university or personal vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities. Will authorize, pursuant to university policies and procedures, a driving record check, and will meet the driving authorization requirements through the course of employment in a position where you are authorized to drive a vehicle as part of our duties.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.   Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Assist in website design initiatives and digital experience improvements.
Support marketing and admissions teams with web-related analytics and reporting.   Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of SEO principles, keyword tracking, and Google Analytics tools.
Experience with content management systems (Omni CMS, WordPress, Drupal, or similar).
Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences.
Ability to analyze data-driven insights to optimize content for engagement and search visibility.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for different audiences.
Understanding of accessibility standards for web content.
