Role Summary

The Fractional / Part-Time Controller serves as a key financial leader responsible for overseeing Chai Vision's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and finance team management. This individual partners closely with the CFO and broader executive leadership to provide financial insight, improve operational efficiencies, and support strategic decision-making across the business.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with deep experience in inventory-driven businesses, consumer products, wholesale operations, and complex accounting environments. This is a fractional engagement designed for a senior finance leader who can deliver Controller-level rigor on a part-time cadence while flexing up around close cycles, audits, and strategic finance initiatives.


What You'll Do


Note: This is a temporary assignment intended to support the team during a transition period. Responsibilities may vary based on business needs, and not all duties listed below will be assigned to or performed by this role.


Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead all accounting operations including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Prepare financial analyses, operating reports, and executive-level reporting packages
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures

Operational & Inventory Finance

  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, sales, and inventory teams to analyze inventory performance, costing, and gross margin trends
  • Oversee inventory accounting and cost analysis across multiple product categories and business channels (Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, wholesale)
  • Develop financial models, KPIs, and business performance metrics to support operational decision-making
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range financial planning initiatives

Cash Management & Banking

  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital planning
  • Oversee banking relationships, financing arrangements, and compliance requirements
  • Monitor liquidity needs and support broader financial strategy initiatives

Team Management & Process Improvement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering accountability and professional growth
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, reporting, and financial processes
  • Evaluate financial systems and reporting structures to improve efficiency and visibility

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Coordinate annual audits and maintain relationships with external auditors and financial partners
  • Support tax compliance and reporting requirements across corporate, sales, and operational tax areas
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (US GAAP) and regulatory requirements


Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • CPA required, MBA strongly preferred
  • You bring 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
  • You have deep experience within apparel, consumer products, manufacturing, wholesale, or inventory-intensive industries
  • You have a strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and operational finance
  • You are experienced managing ERP/accounting systems and complex financial reporting processes
  • You bring strong leadership, communication, and analytical capabilities - both strategic and hands-on
  • You operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • You are comfortable partnering directly with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Nice to have: combination of public accounting and private industry experience; experience supporting multi-channel businesses including wholesale, retail, and eCommerce operations
