LCDC Program Counselor

We are seeking a part-time LCDC Program Counselor for a 6-week temporary assignment supporting a women and family residential development center. This role is focused on resident safety, substance use disorder treatment support, counseling, case management, documentation, and program coordination. The position works within a residential environment that serves clients with complex needs and requires consistent professionalism, strong boundaries, and the ability to respond effectively in challenging situations. The counselor will provide intake, assessment, orientation, treatment planning, intervention, individual counseling, group facilitation, client education, and case management while maintaining compliance with Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) requirements and applicable program policies. This role also includes transportation support, report completion, urinalysis administration, and collaboration with staff and outside agencies to support the full continuum of care.

Benefits

What You Will Do?

• Ensure client safety and welfare while maintaining a humane environment that supports recovery and self-sufficiency.

• Provide substance use disorder treatment services, including intake, assessment, orientation, treatment planning, intervention, counseling, and client education.

• Maintain accurate documentation of all required client contacts in the client file and CaseWorthy.

• Coordinate with staff and agencies to support the treatment continuum and make referrals when specialized care is needed.

• Supervise resident self-administration of medication in accordance with DSHS and program policies as needed.

• Administer urinalysis and forward results to the program manager and relevant staff in a timely manner.

• Implement and supervise resident events and transport program residents in passenger vans for off-site activities as needed.

• Complete and submit reports on time and maintain a case load of ten clients.

Your Skills

• Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor status or an acceptable state license in a related field is required.

• Associate degree or higher in counseling or a related discipline is required.

• Two or more years of experience as a chemical dependency counselor in an intensive residential program.

• CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention certification are required.

• Ability to administer drug testing and work effectively with CaseWorthy.

• Strong listening, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

• Good computer skills and the ability to manage documentation accurately and securely.

• Valid Texas Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and current liability insurance are required.

Pay Details: $23.00 to $25.00 per hour
