This is a year-round, part-time position. Evening and weekend availability is essential.
Bilingual Community Engagement Manager (PT)
Department: Community Engagement
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Community Engagement
Mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Purpose: The part-time Bilingual Community Engagement Manager communicates in both Spanish and English to build thoughtful partnerships and authentic relationships with communities of color throughout the council. This team member showcases a daily priority on diversity, equity, and inclusion and is motivated to increase visibility and build trust with communities through partnerships and program delivery. The Bilingual Community Engagement Manager will support the Community Engagement team as well as collaborate cross-departmentally to extend Girl Scouting in new communities through leading Girl Scout programming and attending community events.
Key components of this role are:
  • Implement an engaging Girl Scout troop experience that focuses on training and providing tools to parents/guardians to become leaders.
  • Build relationships with parents/guardians and other community partners who may become troop leaders.
  • Represent Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa (GSGI) at community events aimed at recruiting new members.
A day in the life... (Essential functions)
  • Facilitate in-person bilingual Girl Scout programming, including troop meetings and single event programming.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships and connections with grassroot community leaders.
  • Input and follow up with leads and referrals, with a focus on leads from Spanish speaking families.
  • Coordinate with council departments to ensure timely conversion and member placement.
  • Communicate and provide solutions to process gaps.
  • Represent GSGI and recruit youth and adult members at community events, particularly on nights and weekends.
  • Provide support to other Community Engagement initiatives.
  • Assess and track success of programs and provide updates to Director of Community Engagement.
  • Stay up to date on all program level requirements, volunteer training, and member communication.
  • Support council goals in membership and customer support as well as supporting overall council strategies, initiatives, and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be bilingual with proficient English and Spanish speaking and writing skills.
  • Associate degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with school-age youth is a plus!
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Proven excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage finances, product sales and data reporting.
  • Competency working in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office products.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
