  • We have an opening for a full time METROLOGY TECHNICIAN position.
  • Location: AstraZeneca - 290 Binney Street Cambridge, MA 02142 Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Requirement: Prior 3-5 years of experience in Metrology and/or Controls roles required.
    • Equipment Certification & Compliance: Manage and support airflow testing and certification for critical containment units (BSCs, VBEs) and maintained gas detection meters to ensure strict safety standards.
    • Systems Maintenance: Performed routine and preventive maintenance on Millipore RO water systems to guarantee high-purity water for laboratory use.
    • Operational Support: Partnered with lab personnel to provide rapid technical troubleshooting, effectively minimizing research downtime.
    • Project & Data Management: Managed external vendor relations and maintained meticulous electronic records of all calibrations and repairs for audit readiness.
  • Pay Range: $45.00 per hour to $50.00 per hour

Executes calibration, verification, and certification activities to ensure the accuracy, traceability, and compliance of laboratory instruments and measurement systems. Applies established calibration and metrology procedures and traceable standards to support reliable laboratory operations in regulated environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration, verification, and certification of laboratory instruments using approved metrology procedures and traceable standards.
  • Verify measurement accuracy and tolerance against defined acceptance criteria and document results.
  • Identify and report out-of-tolerance conditions in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Maintain complete calibration and traceability records to support compliance and audits.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of measurement instruments as assigned.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and laboratory procedures while performing all work.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or experience in metrology, calibration, or instrumentation preferred.
  • Experience performing calibration or measurement-related work in a laboratory or quality-controlled environment.
  • Working knowledge of applied metrology concepts such as accuracy, tolerance, and traceability.
    Ability to follow controlled procedures and accurately complete technical documentation.
