Job Summary:

Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a part-time instructor to support our Patient Care Academies.
The individual in this role will:
  • Provide instruction for Patient Care Academies in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings on KVCC campuses and at the Northside Association for Community Development (NACD).
  • Ensure required curriculum is followed and the program is in compliance with LARA including appropriate set up and laboratory inventory.
  • Assist students in the process to obtain State Certification(s).
  • Work with Program Coordinator on State license approvals and renewals.
  • Work with partners in the health industry to determine and maintain clinical sites.
  • Report student and program concerns to Program Coordinator.
  • Work with community partners and Program Navigators to ensure adequate referrals are made for barrier removal, supportive services, and accommodation.
  • Work with internal and external partners on the common mission to create a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable workforce system.

Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Provide instruction and/or support for other healthcare programs as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Current Michigan RN licensure is required.
At least two years of recent RN experience is required.
At least one year of recent nursing experience working in a long-term care facility is required.
Upon hire, candidates will be required to complete a 10-panel drug screen, and provide documentation of the following:
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine.
  • Series of three Hepatitis B immunizations or * Hepatitis B titer results indicating immunity.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (TDAP) within last 10 years.
  • Negative PPD (one step) or Quantiferon Gold TB test within the past year (a negative chest X-Ray within the past 3 years will also suffice and will be required if PPD or Quantiferon are positive.
  • Series of 2 MMR immunizations or adequate titer results for Rubeola, Mumps and Rubella.
  • Varicella immunity documented by either a series of two Varicella immunizations, or history of disease confirmed by physician record, or adequate Varicella titer results.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine.

Physical Demands:
Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with the work of a nurse assistant.
Work Hours:
Hours of work will be dependent upon the needs of the program.
