Job description

Alliance Health Physicians is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine physician to join our inpatient team at McLaren Macomb Hospital on a contingent or part-time basis.

This position covers overnight shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM and is primarily focused on managing observation and inpatient medical patients. Physicians with prior ICU experience may also elect to provide ICU coverage and receive enhanced compensation when assigned to those responsibilities.

This role is ideal for physicians seeking supplemental income, schedule flexibility, or hospital-based practice without a full-time commitment.

Compensation

  • Hospitalist Coverage: $125/hour | $1,500 per 12-hour shift
  • ICU Coverage: $150/hour | $1,800 per 12-hour shift
  • Physicians assigned to ICU earn $300 more per shift than the standard rate
  • Flexible scheduling available

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage obs and inpatient admissions during overnight hours (7pm - 7am)
  • Evaluate and treat hospitalized adult medical patients
  • Coordinate care with consulting specialists and nursing staff
  • Collaborate with emergency department providers and advanced practice providers
  • Respond to urgent clinical issues involving assigned patients
  • Participate in discharge planning and transitions of care

ICU Coverage

Internal Medicine physicians with strong ICU experience are encouraged to apply.

ICU responsibilities may include:

  • Management of critically ill patients
  • Ventilator management
  • Treatment of respiratory failure, sepsis, and hemodynamically unstable patients
  • Participation in rapid response and code situations as required

A board-certified intensivist is available on-call from home for consultation and clinical support throughout the shift.
