Summary of Job Duties:
The Desktop Support Extra Help Worker is a part-time student position responsible for providing hands-on technical support for UITS Desktop Support units. This role supports both individual end users and general access lab environments. Support duties include basic troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, software installation and maintenance, device setup and re-imaging, and documenting work via a ticketing system. The candidate must be a current University of Arkansas student who is customer-focused, technical, and eager to gain hands-on experience in IT work. The position is not remote eligible and is based out of the UITS Desktop Support Team Room in the Arkansas Union.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a currently enrolled student at the University of Arkansas
  • Basic familiarity with computers, operating systems, and technology troubleshooting (training provided)
  • Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Knowledge of network fundamentals
  • Experience with IT Ticketing Systems
  • Experience with common office applications (Microsoft 365 apps, Adobe Creative Cloud, Teams, Zoom, etc.)
