Location: South Fulton, GA
Job Type: Part-Time / Independent Contractor
Compensation: $35-$50 per hour
Schedule: 1-4 days per week, based on program needs
Program Duration: 4-12 weeks, depending on the enrichment program

Do you have a passion for chess, strategy, and working with children?


APEC Afterschool Enrichment is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Chess Enrichment Instructor to introduce elementary-aged students to the fundamentals of chess while helping them develop critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, patience, and strategic decision-making skills.


The ideal instructor will create an engaging, structured, and encouraging environment where students can learn the game, practice their skills, and build confidence through friendly competition and collaboration.ย 

Requirements

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and playing ability in chess.
  • Have experience teaching or coaching chess preferred.
  • Have experience working with elementary-aged children.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and engage groups of students.
  • Be able to teach chess concepts in a clear, age-appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organization, patience, creativity, and professionalism.
  • Be comfortable teaching students with varying levels of chess experience.
  • Provide a curriculum and lesson/activity plans for approval prior to beginning services.
  • Provide the chess sets, instructional materials, and equipment necessary to facilitate lessons.
  • Successfully complete all required APEC onboarding requirements.
  • Successfully pass a criminal records check and fingerprint-based background check.
  • Follow all APEC safety, supervision, and program expectations
