This is a continuous recruitment pool not specifically advertised.ย 
The pool is continuous in order to develop a qualified pool of interested candidates.ย 
We invite applications to be submitted for potential openings.ย 
Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking a Dentist to work part time in support of the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assistant Programs. Must be available for all patient treatment sessions to provide clinical assistance/guidance to students and faculty. Responsibilities include reviewing health histories, managing clinical medical emergencies, diagnosing caries and oral pathology, providing local anesthesia, ordering and reviewing dental radiographs, making appropriate medical/dental referrals, prescribing medications as needed and coordinating with dental hygiene faculty in evaluating student performance
Duties
Presence on the floor of the clinic during all clinic sessionsย 
Responsible for handling all medical emergencies that arise during clinic hoursย 
Prescribe proper medication as the need arisesย 
Administer local anesthesia when appropriateย 
Available to answers questions from both students and patientsย 
Available to dental hygiene faculty/staff as an authority pertaining to dental mattersย 
Identify treatments for patients that may be medically compromisedย 
Identify pathologies and make the appropriate referral - medical and/or dentalย 
Refer patients for follow-up treatmentย 
Prescribe pit and fissure sealants as neededย 
Identify and evaluate any lesion, anomaly or deviation from the normalย 
Review radiographs and make a subsequent diagnosis based on the reviewย 
Review health histories of the patient and make referrals to a physician as necessaryย 
Evaluate students as they provide patient care - through each process and end resultย 
Provide consulting services to patients to suggest and review treatment plans
Minimum Qualifications
Dentist DMD/DDS Degreeย 
Current license by NC Board of Dental Examinersย 
Two years work experience in dentistryย 
Up to date immunizationsย 
Current CPR for Healthcare Providers
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college. On-line teaching experience.
