Job description
In the Psychology Department, one or more courses may be offered to part-time, temporary faculty members during fall 2025 and/or spring 2026. Courses available could include PSY 208 (Personality), PSY 212 (Abnormal Psychology), PSY 223 (Psychology of Childhood), PSY 230 (Social Psychology), PSY 232 (Environmental Psychology), PSY 361 (Sensation & Perception), PSY 412 (Foundations of Clinical Psychology), PSY 424 (Abnormal Child Psychology), PSY 466 (Cognitive Neuroscience) and PSY 491 (Senior Seminar; variable topics, including, but not limited to, cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology).
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: syllabus development aligned with departmental expectations, lesson planning, assignment design, grading, office hours, correspondence with students, use of an online learning management system and/or other instructional software, course coordination meetings with other faculty members, and required orientation and training.
Positions typically require teaching in person on campus.
Part-time temporary faculty members may be rehired in subsequent semesters based on course availability, schedule, funding, and performance. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable university policies. Part-time faculty members are compensated on a per-credit-hour basis, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and in accordance with the Maine Part-Time Faculty Association (PATFA) contract. Required:
- Master's degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
- Academic preparation adequate for the courses to be taught.
Preferred:
- At least two years' college teaching experience.
- PhD in Psychology or a closely related field.
