Job description

Clinical Research Nurse (RN)-PRN, Lenexa, Kansas (KS)
ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation united by a mission to bring new medicines and treatments to patients faster.
As a values-driven organisation, integrity, collaboration, agility, and inclusion are at the heart of how we work and interact with each other, customers, patients and suppliers.
Position: Clinical Research Nurse
Location: Lenexa, Kansas (KS)
Part-time (PRN)
Are you a Registered Nurse looking for a role where your clinical expertise advances new treatments that improve patient outcomes? Join ICON as a Clinical Research Nurse, where your work supports scientific progress and helps bring innovative therapies to patients who need them.
The Clinical Research Nurse (PRN) supports the safe, compliant execution of Phase 1 clinical trials with healthy volunteers in an on-site clinic setting. This role performs core nursing tasks (vitals, IVs, EKGs, injections, dosing, blood draws), and adheres to clinical research protocols that vary by trial. Prior research experience is not required-training is provided. ADNs are accepted; candidates must hold an active, unrestricted RN license.
What You Will Do
As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will:
  • Perform nursing procedures per protocol and orders: vitals, IV starts, EKGs, injections, dosing, phlebotomy.
  • Conduct rounds across multiple concurrent studies throughout the shift (e.g., vitals on one study, blood draws on another).
  • Document assessments, procedures, and events (AEs) thoroughly and accurately in study systems.
  • Identify and open Adverse Events (AEs) when appropriate; SAEs are rare in the clinic's healthy-volunteer setting.
  • Support adherence to ICH-GCP, SOPs, and protocol requirements; escalate issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; act as shift lead when trained/assigned.
  • Provide clear communication to participants and team; follow all provider orders (MD/PA/NP).

ICON's Clinical Research Nurses enjoy
  • Clear schedules and an organized, structured clinical environment.
  • A supportive team environment with well-defined processes.
  • Professional growth opportunities in research, leadership, education, or coordination.
  • Work that contributes directly to the development of future treatments.

Your Profile
  • Licensed RN (ADN or BSN); active license to practice in Kansas
  • Clinical nursing experience; no prior research experience required (training provided).
  • Competence in core clinical skills: IVs, EKGs, injections, phlebotomy, vital signs.
  • Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and documentation accuracy.
