Job description

The Congdon School of Health Sciences at High Point University invites applications for a part-time Gross Anatomy Laboratory Specialist staff position. The Gross Anatomy Laboratory Specialist will work with the Manager of the Gross Anatomy Laboratory and support the Willed Body Program under the direction of the Dean of the Congdon School of Health Sciences and the Director of the Willed Body Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Associates degree from an accredited mortuary school

  • Valid Embalmer License and/or the ability to obtain license in the State of North Carolina

Experience and Training

  • Minimumtwoyears' experience in embalming

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Knowledge of North Carolina and Federal laws governing willed body/anatomical gift programs, crematories,and embalming.

  • Knowledge of various embalming techniques.

  • Knowledge of OSHA laboratory health and safety regulations and compliance.

  • Strong organizational and reporting skills.

  • Experiencemaintainingthe privacy of information and the confidentiality of records.

  • Familiarity with and/or coursework relevant to human anatomy dissection isadvantageous.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare andmaintainanatomical specimens (donors) through embalming techniques for dissection and clinical training.

  • Maintain a system that allows for 100% accuracyregardingthe receipt, issuance,locationand final disposition of donors and donor specimens.

  • Assist the Director of the Willed Body Program with annual memorial service and arrange educational laboratory tours and outreach.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Will report to the Dean of the Congdon School of Health Sciences and the Director of the Willed Body Program.
