Job Description
Job Summary
Part-time day time position (mainly weekends) with flexible starting/stopping times according to customer needs. Typical schedule is 8am-4pm, but schedule may vary. Staff members of the Guest Services department will be responsible for the welfare of all guests and clients of the Dow Center while they are on the property. This is accomplished through the appropriate care of the physical aspects of the building including guest rooms, meeting rooms, public areas, restrooms, and the adjacent exterior areas (parking lots and sidewalks). Guest Services staff is responsible for maintaining an environment that is pleasing and inviting to prospective and current guests and clients while providing all amenities necessary to enhance a customer-driven service organization.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Maintain a personable and pleasant attitude. A good first impression is essential.
  2. Daily housekeeping of hotel rooms following departmental procedures
  3. Wash, dry, fold, and store all DHCC linen in accordance with accepted and established department laundry procedures.
  4. Maintain a clean entrance to the facility: daily removal of debris, litter, leaves, dirt, and snow from the entrance to the street; emptying trashcans and cleaning cigarette receptacles.
  5. Clean and sanitize restrooms - including fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, partitions, and floors. Replenish supplies as needed.
  6. Maintain front lobby, upper and lower lounges, and hotel hallways by daily vacuuming, mopping, and window washing ensuring all areas are neat and tidy at all times.
  7. Clean carpets, upholstered furniture, and conference chairs as needed or scheduled.
  8. Assist with setting up tables and chairs for events in the conference center
  9. Maintenance and proper storage of all tools, equipment, and supplies.
  10. Perform minor maintenance repairs for the safety and comfort of our guests and clients such as: tightening screws, changing light bulbs, changing batteries, touch-up painting, etc as instructed.
  11. Knowledge of AV equipment (LCD projectors, screens, podium & mics) in order to assist clients as needed.
  12. Possess the ability to fulfill the requirements of a daily job list.
  13. Be flexible in scheduled work time and willing to work other shifts including weekends and holidays.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dow Center Management Team.

Education and Experience
This position requires a high school diploma along with two years of customer service and/or hospitality experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.
