A Brief Overview
The Infusion Outpatient Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice. The Infusion Outpatient Nurse is accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in an outpatient setting that performs specialized procedures.
What you will do
  • Administer IV infusions, hydration therapy, biologics, antibiotics, and other non-chemotherapy medications as ordered by providers.
  • Assess patients prior to infusion, including reviewing health history, vital signs, and lab results.
  • Monitor patients during and after infusion for adverse reactions and respond promptly to complications.
  • Educate patients and families on infusion procedures, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure infusion area complies with infection control and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other team members to coordinate care plans.
  • Manage infusion supplies and assist with inventory control.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, Joint Commission standards, and state/federal regulations.

Education Qualifications
  • ADN Required
  • BSN Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience; infusion experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work with patients, families, physicians and other health care providers with a high level of customer service orientation
  • General proficient PC skills and computer knowledge
  • Phlebotomy skills and experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong IV insertion and vascular access skills (including PICC line management)
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient education skills
  • Outpatient infusion clinic or multi-specialty setting
  • May involve working with patients receiving treatments for conditions such as autoimmune disorders, infections, dehydration, and chronic illnesses

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Required
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
