Job description

Job Title: Protestant Worship Director.
Location: Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, TX.
Hours: Part-time; Flexible schedule, up to 30 hours per week, including one practice a week and Sunday services from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Position Summary:
The Protestant Worship Director will provide instrumental music support for Protestant worship services and rehearsals at Dyess Air Force Base. This role involves leading worship music, collaborating with other musicians, and ensuring that the musical elements align with the spiritual and thematic goals of the services..

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide worship leadership and musical accompaniment during weekly worship services, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for the congregation.
  • Collaborate with the service Chaplain to select and prepare music that aligns with the themes of Scripture readings and religious seasons.
  • Prepare worship slides with song lyrics to facilitate congregational singing as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and maintain a volunteer base for the Protestant worship team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Adhere to Chapel policies and Air Force regulations regarding worship services and music programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of service participation and volunteer involvement, providing regular updates to the Chaplain or designated representative.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in music or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading Protestant Contemporary worship music in a church environment.
  • Proficient in playing guitar or keyboard, with the ability to read music and improvise.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups effectively, work collaboratively with Chapel staff, volunteers, and congregational members.
  • Experience in a military or government environment is a plus.
  • Must pass a federal background investigation and comply with all applicable regulations.
