Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible to provide safety, security and surveillance for the ASUMH campus during the appropriate shifts (evening or day depending on need). Patrols buildings and patrols grounds on foot and in vehicle; monitors computer systems and video for any unusual activities. Enforces university policies along with municipal and state laws in support of the educational mission of the university.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Patrol security checks on all buildings. Includes checking for unlocked doors, proper function of locking mechanism, and lights left on. This duty is performed daily, about 70% of the time.
  • Assist university administrators as needed in the investigation of disturbances and incidents. This duty is performed irregularly, about 10% of the time.
  • Monitor security and fire panel for security and fire detection, assist with checking the alarm systems and emergency power supply, and inspect and maintain fire extinguishers. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
  • Provide security for night events as assigned and be available to intervene in altercations, resolve conflicts and other situations. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
  • Complete forms such as incident reports and shift reports in an accurate and timely manner. This duty is performed irregularly, about 10% of the time.
  • Identify safety hazards and violators and report accordingly. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
  • Directing traffic for on- campus events and maintaining crowd control. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
  • Assist patrons when needed. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
  • Assist in the compilation of security statistics and Clery Act reporting requirements. This duty is performed annually, about 10% of the time.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. This duty is performed irregularly, about 10% of the time.

Monday - Friday. Time varies depending on department needs. Can work up to 29 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a current CLEST certification by Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy, and a valid Arkansas driver's license. Retired officers who still hold their full-time credentials through CLEST are welcome to apply.
