Job Summary

Martin Marietta is currently looking for energized individuals to join our team at our open pit limestone quarry in our Cedar Rapids Quarry, IA. This position would be responsible for operating a haul truck.

Every ton of limestone extracted fuels the expansion of regional infrastructure, from the revitalization of local commerce to the reinforcement of the neighborhood foundations where we live and work. Martin Marietta's dedication to environmental stewardship and operational excellence ensures the Cedar Rapids Quarry remains a vital partner in building a durable, high-performing future for the corridor and beyond.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating a variety of off-road haultrucks and other equipment utilized in mining which could include loaders, skid loaders, etc.
  • Perform daily inspection of vehicle and work area assigned
  • Observe visual and auditory signals during vehicle operation
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, clean equipment
  • Assist on plant maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Other mining related duties as required
  • Operating any of our equipment and any daily work assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Valid US driver's license

Skills:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations
  • Effective verbal communication
  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use and maintenance

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment year-round
  • General physical activities include climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reach with hands and arms, and handling material
