The Healthcare Server is responsible for providing the highest level of dining and beverage service to the members ofย The Garlands in the Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care floors while building trusted and valued relationships.ย 

Job Description for Healthcare Server:

  • Ensureย that the dining room is set appropriately before/after each meal period. (Tables set, glassware shined, napkins, Etc.)
  • Transport food in meal cart from the main kitchen
  • Properly take temps of food items and record as necessary, per regulations
  • Know all members diets orders and ensure all members receive appropriate food as ordered
  • Ensure food is provided in appropriate sequencing per members preferences
  • Provide food according to Diet Ordered (texture/liquid) as applicable
  • Provideย additional assistance to customers as needed (e.g., walkย  A Member back to the apartment, bring food to them when they are not feeling well, etc.).
  • Be able to describe menu selections, answers questions and seeks additional information from Nutrition and Dietary Manager, Prairieview Dining Manager, Executive Chef, and Sous Chef if needed, in order to provide customers with all the information needed to make their selections.
  • Inputย data into POS system as applicable.
  • Assist in filling out paper meal tickets as applicable.
  • Maintainย cleanliness of dining rooms by mopping, dusting, etc.
  • Clean, maintain and restockย snack stations throughout the workday and at the end of the shift.
  • Transport dirty dishes to the main kitchen for the dishwasher to clean/transport clean dishes back to the skilled nursing unit.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to lift items up to 25ย lb.
  • Must be able to lift and move tables and chairs, boxes and other containers.
  • Must be able to move arms and hands in various directions to clean tables and workstations.
  • Able to tolerate long periods of walking, bending, stooping and standing.
  • Maintain a current State of Illinois Sanitation Licensed/Food Handlers (This can be provided by The Garlands).
  • C.N.A. licenseย or in the process of completing aย C.N.A. program a plus
  • The ability to learn and use the computerized ordering and billing system.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Conversational English required.
