What is part time health insurance?

Part time health insurance refers to health coverage options available to employees who work fewer hours than full-time staff, typically less than 30-35 hours per week. Some employers offer health insurance benefits to part-time workers, but eligibility and coverage can vary widely. If employer-sponsored insurance isn't available, part-time employees may seek coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace or other private plans. It's important to compare options to find a plan that fits your medical needs and budget.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time health insurance agent?

To thrive as a Part-Time Health Insurance Agent, you need a solid understanding of health insurance products, state licensing, and sales fundamentals. Familiarity with CRM software, quoting platforms, and industry certification (such as a state health insurance license) is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to explain complex information clearly make agents stand out. These skills are crucial for building trust, meeting clients’ needs, and maintaining compliance in a highly regulated and client-focused industry.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time employees when enrolling in health insurance benefits?

Part-time employees often encounter challenges such as limited eligibility for employer-sponsored health insurance, fewer plan options, or higher premiums compared to full-time staff. Additionally, navigating the enrollment process may require extra research to understand available public or private plans if employer coverage is not offered. It's important for part-time workers to carefully review hours-worked requirements and consult HR or benefits coordinators to ensure they don't miss critical enrollment deadlines or potential subsidies.

Then this opportunity might be a great fit for you!
Our client, a metro-Atlanta financial firm that caters to high-net-worth clients, is looking for a Permanent, Part-time Personal Finance Manager to join its team. About 75% of your work can be done from your home office. The remaining 25% of your work schedule will be:

  • attending twice monthly team meetings at the ROAM facility in the Galleria area
  • making in-person visits to clients' homes in the Buckhead, Midtown and Northside Drive areas

If you are in a season of life where a part-time work schedule is ideally what you need or want, this opportunity will provide the flexibility you need. If you ideally need full-time work hours and health insurance, please don't apply.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general bookkeeping duties such as bill paying, reviewing and posting transactional data in Quicken, Quickbooks, Google Sheets & Excel, account reconciliation, and general ledger balancing
  • Create general financial statements and conduct analyses

  • Respond promptly to ad hoc client requests and maintain ongoing communication
  • Become a trusted advisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Proficient in the Google Suite of products, to include Google Sheets
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient with Quicken, Quickbooks & Excel
  • Willing to wear many hats in servicing the clients – some bookkeeping in nature, some more analytical, some more administrative
  • Confidence in interacting with executive personalities and demeanors and being able to challenge/push back when necessary
  • Professional experience interacting with internal and external customers is desired
  • Must be available to work and travel to clients’ homes during normal business hours

Compensation: $38-40 per hour, mileage reimbursements, PTO, and the opportunity to participate in a SIMPLE IRA plan with a 3% company match.
