What is a part time groundskeeper?

Part time groundskeepers are individuals responsible for maintaining the appearance and health of outdoor spaces, such as lawns, gardens, parks, or sports fields, but work fewer hours than a full-time position. Their duties may include mowing lawns, trimming bushes, planting flowers, picking up litter, and performing minor repairs. Part time groundskeepers typically work flexible hours, which can include mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on the needs of the property. This role is ideal for those seeking hands-on work in an outdoor environment and may be seasonal or year-round.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time groundskeeper?

To excel as a Part Time Groundskeeper, you need basic knowledge of landscaping, horticulture, and grounds maintenance, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with landscaping tools, lawn care equipment, and safety procedures is typically required. Attention to detail, reliability, and strong time management are vital soft skills for maintaining property appearance and working independently. These abilities ensure the grounds are safe, attractive, and well-kept, which is crucial for property value and public impression.

What are some common challenges a part time groundskeeper might face, and how can they be managed?

Part-time groundskeepers often encounter challenges such as managing a high volume of outdoor tasks within limited hours and adapting to changing weather conditions. Communication with supervisors and other team members ensures that responsibilities are clear and work is coordinated efficiently. Staying organized and flexible helps groundskeepers meet expectations while maintaining the quality of the grounds.

Ticket Service Representative – Part-time

Arizona Athletic Grounds - Mesa, AZ

Position Summary

Arizona Athletic Grounds (“AAG”) is seeking highly motivated and dedicated part-time Ticket Service Representatives to work a variety of shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends, in a fast-paced, high-energy youth sports complex. This position is for part-time hours with variable hours and some weeks busier than others. During our busiest season, which is from January to May, the hours typically range from 10 to 30 hours over a 2-3 day weekend. During the summer and early fall time the hours can be more limited.

Schedule

This position requires weekend availability; we do not often have weekday hours available. If hired you would likely be working any combination of Fri/Sat/Sun (Mondays on holiday weekends). Hours typically range from as early as 6am to as late as 10pm.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Sell, scan and secure doors/gates at AAG ticketed events.
  • Provide positive “Guest Relations” assistance and information to guests.
  • Work in Box Office windows or any section of the Grounds to assist our guests with directions, event information, or any other questions they may have.
  • Accurately process payments for tickets while following all sales and payment procedures.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, in a professional and informative manner.
  • Process administrative tasks, including opening and closing paperwork.
  • Answer questions regarding events, tickets, schedules, parking, amenities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Box Office management.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Positive attitude with a professional, helpful demeanor.
  • Good customer service skills and etiquette.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise levels and busy environments.
  • May work in high/low temperature climates inside or outside at events at AAG.
  • Walking, standing for periods of time, reaching, kneeling, and bending.

Working in the ticketing department can be both extremely busy and periodically very slow. Candidates will be able to adapt to all levels of business activity, and must be able to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately when busy and remained focused on the position and guests needs when activity is slower.

Ticket Service Representatives work both inside and outside for events, so weather is a consideration. Summer months are very hot and winter can be cold or very cool in the mornings/evenings. Periodic “monsoons” and storms to deal with in the East Valley/Mesa area are expected.
