OVERVIEW
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club serving the greater Los Angeles area. LAFC's ownership group is comprised of local leaders and innovators of industry with intellectual capital, financial prowess, operations expertise, and success in the fields of entertainment, sports, technology, and media. LAFC is invested in the world's game and Los Angeles, constructing, and developing the 22,000 seat BMO Stadium and a top-flight training center on the campus of Cal-State Los Angeles.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance and execution of landscape and turf management programs at BMO Stadium (one natural grass field) and the LAFC Performance Center (three natural grass fields). This role supports the overall quality, safety, and presentation of all playing surfaces and surrounding grounds in a high-usage, fast-paced professional sports environment, including post-event and concert recovery operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and committed to meeting established standards and operating within a team-driven system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in the maintenance and care of stadium and training facility grounds, including landscape, ornamental, and xeriscape areas.
  • Implement proper cutting procedures and perform routine mowing, pruning and trimming trees, shrubs, and hedges as needed, often under tight timelines.
  • Conduct debris removal on fields, walkways, and surrounding areas during both event and non-event days.
  • Support concert and large-scale event recovery efforts, including debris cleanup, turf repair, field aeration, and restoration of playing surfaces to match-ready condition within demanding turnaround schedules.
  • Inspect equipment before and after use; ensure proper operation and maintenance of all turf equipment, including tractors, mowers, aerators, topdressers, and PTO-driven machinery.
  • Prepare fields for events by marking boundaries and painting lines, team logos, and field identifiers on natural turf surfaces.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required (for operating utility vehicles and carts on-site).
  • Ability to safely mix, apply, and distribute fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides using manual and automated equipment.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, including shovels, rakes, pruning saws, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, and related equipment.
  • Experience operating power equipment such as mowers, tractors, sod cutters, and other similar machinery.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a structured team environment and contribute to a consistent standard of execution.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in English - both verbal and written. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and adapt to established processes and expectations; prior experience is valued but not required to be extensive.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods without assistance.
  • Ability to withstand various weather elements such as high temperatures and rain.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as the event calendar requires.

SALARY RANGE
At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the compensation for this role is $25.00 per hour.
