Come join our great Parks & Recreation team! The City is hiring for a part-time Graphics Project Specialist, anticipated to work up to 17 hours per week.

The successful candidate will support the Puyallup Parks & Recreation Department by creating high-quality visual communications that promote recreation programs, events, and services. This position is responsible for designing print and digital marketing materials, maintaining a cohesive visual identity for the Recreation Division, and assisting with marketing, advertising, and social media initiatives.

Essential Functions

• Design, produce, and finalize seasonal Parks & Recreation & Activity Center catalogs using Canva and other approved design software.
• Design and produce marketing materials including flyers, brochures, posters, banners, digital graphics, signage, and other promotional documents for recreation programs, events, and initiatives.
• Develop and maintain a cohesive branding program for the Recreation Division to ensure consistent visual identity across all print and digital communications.
• Assist in creating engaging content for the Recreation Division's social media platforms, including graphics for social media posts, and promotional materials that align with departmental branding and communication goals.
• Coordinate with Recreation staff to gather information, establish project priorities, and ensure marketing materials are accurate, timely, and effective.
• Maintain organized project files, design assets, and marketing records.
• Prepare reports, summaries, and other documentation as requested.
• Perform assigned duties accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines.
• Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors, department staff, other City employees, community partners, and the public.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of graphic design principles, typography, color theory, branding, and visual communication.
• Proficiency with Canva; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is desirable.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing creative, accurate, high-quality work.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet established deadlines.
• Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required. Coursework or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Experience creating both print and digital marketing materials.
• Or, a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above.

Special Qualifications:
The successful candidate must comply with a background check required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act,RCW 43.43.830 through 43.43.840.
Physical Characteristics and Work Environment
This position is primarily performed remotely in an office setting and requires the ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with supervisors and Recreation Division staff through email, phone, virtual meetings, and other communication platforms. The incumbent must be available during established work hours and responsive to departmental needs. Occasional in-person attendance is required for staff meetings, project planning sessions, training, or other departmental activities at the Puyallup Recreation Center or other City facilities. Constant Demands: Hearing, seeing, talking. Frequent Demands: Sitting, repetitive hand and arm motion, fine finger manipulation. Work requires regular use of a computer and standard office software to complete assigned duties.
