Job description

Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Accurately read and measure student performance in Spanish and French based against a grading rubric.
  • Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
  • Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.
  • Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
  • Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
  • Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.

Job Skills:
  • Subject matter competency in Spanish and French.
  • Prioritization and time management skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Work Experience:
  • Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in Spanish and French required.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; Master's degree is preferred.

Other:

  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations.
  • Strong mental acuity.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.

$20/hr is the expected starting pay for this position. This offer is based on current budgetary guidelines and the additional factors outlined below.
