Job Overview
The Fitness Center Recreation Aide performs duties in support of the Gadsden center mission.
This role could work indoors and outdoors and is subject to prolonged standing and exposure to sun. Work hours include holidays, weekends and nights.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Provides customer service to fitness center patrons.
  • Greet patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Takes reservations for Sports & Fitness Facilities.
  • Prepares activity reports and daily receipts.
  • Cleans fitness center to include locker rooms, showers, steam room, saunas, cardio room, weight room, aerobics room, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and other fitness areas.
  • Monitor fitness floor activities to ensure safety and proper equipment usage.
  • Conducts hourly headcounts.
  • Cleans and maintains fitness equipment.
  • Will assist in the planning and execution of sports leagues and special events.
  • Provides physical fitness assessments and equipment orientations for fitness center patrons.
  • Provide basic guidance on equipment use (within the scope of training).
  • Respond to emergencies and follow proper incident reporting procedures.
  • Ensure facility rules and policies are followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Working knowledge of recreation activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of recreational and fitness equipment.
  • Certification(s) for personal fitness training and as a personal fitness trainer highly desirable.
  • Comfortable in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Outlook.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Good communication and people skills. Ability to work well with customers and various levels of authority.
  • Able to obtain and maintain any government required security clearances and certifications.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Able to lift up to 45 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.
  • U.S. Citizen.
