How much do part time gigs jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 13, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time gigs in the United States is $13.51, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $11.54 and $15.62 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are part time gigs?

Part time gigs are jobs or tasks that typically require fewer hours than a standard full-time position, often with flexible schedules. These roles can range from temporary assignments and freelance work to ongoing positions that require a commitment of less than 35-40 hours per week. Many people choose part time gigs to supplement their income, gain experience in different fields, or balance work with other responsibilities such as school or family. Part time gigs are available across a wide variety of industries including retail, hospitality, delivery services, and online freelancing.

What is the difference between Part Time Gigs vs Part Time Retail Jobs?

AspectPart Time GigsPart Time Retail Jobs

Work EnvironmentFlexible, often remote or varied locationsPhysical stores, customer-facing environment
Employer & IndustryMultiple platforms, freelance or gig economyRetail stores, shopping centers, malls
Search & Comparison IntentFlexible, freelance, or project-based workPart-time retail employment opportunities

Part Time Gigs offer flexible, often remote or varied work opportunities without strict credentials, suitable for diverse skills. In contrast, Part Time Retail Jobs are typically in physical store environments, focusing on customer service. Both serve different needs but are popular options for part-time employment.

What are some common challenges faced when juggling multiple part-time gigs, and how can they be managed effectively?

One of the main challenges of working multiple part-time gigs is managing your schedule to avoid conflicts and ensure you meet all commitments. It can also be difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance, as part-time roles often have varying hours and expectations. To manage these challenges, it's important to use reliable scheduling tools, communicate clearly with each employer about your availability, and set boundaries to prevent burnout. Staying organized and proactive in coordinating your responsibilities will help you succeed in multiple roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in part-time gigs, and why are they important?

To excel in part-time gigs, you generally need strong time management, reliability, and basic job-specific skills, with qualifications varying based on the industry and role. Familiarity with scheduling apps, point-of-sale systems, or digital communication tools may be required depending on the gig. Adaptability, customer service skills, and self-motivation help individuals stand out in flexible, often fast-paced environments. These skills ensure you can efficiently manage diverse tasks, meet employer expectations, and maximize opportunities in a dynamic work setting.

What is the best part time gig?

The best part time gig depends on individual skills and interests, but common options include retail, food service, freelance work, and gig economy roles like rideshare driving or delivery services. These jobs often offer flexible schedules and require minimal long-term commitments, making them suitable for part-time work seekers.

About Great Clips

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

Great Clips, Inc. was established in Minneapolis, Minnesota by founders David Rubenzer and Steve Lemmon in 1982, a time when most people received haircuts in one of three ways: in full-service hair salons, from barbershops or at home. As a stylist and businessman, David could see that the industry was changing. Customers were looking for a hair salon service that could fit their busy lifestyles and desire for value. To be part of that change – rather than find themselves competing with it – David and Steve developed the then-radical concept of a walk-in haircare salon with weekend and evening hours, offering customers a select list of services, and providing benefits for stylists. After the founders opened several successful hair salons, Ray Barton joined David and Steve as an owner in March 1983. With Ray's help and expertise in franchising, the trio set about growing the Great Clips hair salon brand. That success continues through today.
