Job description

Description:

We build veterinary medicine around great people.

Partner Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center (PVESC) is a women-founded and led business committed to reimagining a profession that we love. Our leadership team has a reputation for building and retaining happy and healthy teams and founded Partner Veterinary to give more professionals the optimal environment to make a difference in the field and for pet families.

Our hospitals in Frederick, Maryland and Richmond, Virginia opened in 2023, built from the ground up with a vision for a culture unmatched in veterinary medicine.

We are seeking a second full or part time oncologist for our Frederick, Maryland hospital. We are looking for individuals who are interested in collaborating with the entire hospital team and desire to take an active role in shaping the internal medicine department and practice in a sustainable, engaging way.

As an oncologist, you will utilize your unique expertise to diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients with cancer. Importantly, you will lead a compassionate dialogue with your clients about treatment options best suited for them and help guide them through stages of treatment. With our team-centered approach, continual collaboration with the Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine and Cardiology departments is necessary to both provide and receive support. As such, you will also educate the ER (and other services as needed) with guidelines regarding best practices for the emergent case management of oncology patients.

We cultivate departments based on the interest and expertise of the professionals on our team. You will see a combination of stable appointments and hospitalized transfers for which your training best equips you to optimize a patientโ€™s outcome. Unique administrative roles that enable you to practice at your highest level:

  • Patient Care Coordinators assist with client communication, treatment plan estimates, and coordination of complex or interdepartmental care of high acuity patients

  • Are committed to open collaboration with the emergency service and other specialty departments.
  • Who enjoy sharing knowledge to improve learning and development for the hospital and our internship program.

The Partner Difference:

  • No noncompete- stay because you WANT to
  • Doctor and team member mentorship, both at onboarding and throughout career
  • Open building design around patient care and collaboration
  • Active balancing of caseload via triage process and ICU scoring
  • All team members receive PTO prior to beginning work to re-center and focus on their wellbeing and interests
  • Optimal team utilization- focus is on everyone practicing at the top of their license made possible by utilization of scribes, client care advocates, intentional case management, role definition, and scheduling. Focus on patients, not paperwork.
  • Triage and ICU doctors on shift together to effectively manage in hospital and receiving cases
  • Robust team recruiting pipeline
  • High level resource management to ensure optimal and functional equipment and supplies
  • Integrated EMR and digital treatment sheet system with extensive bank of medical templates and protocols
  • Unique wellness benefits
  • Opportunities to be involved in clinical research and trials.
  • Didactic learning through grand rounds, journal club, morbidity and mortality discussions, and specialty department case rounds
  • A voice in how we do things- we want you involved in creating your optimal environment!

Our building and team design includes:

  • Open layout building design layout that encourages interdepartmental communication and collaboration
  • In-house lab equipment
  • Digital radiology
  • Digital cytology
  • Emergency ultrasound
