Pharmacy Technician I - Pharmacy Department

Work hours: Part Time, 24 hours a week.  Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Here's What You Need

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • No experience is required
  • 6 months of hospital or retail experience is strongly preferred.
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required And
  • Other IV Certification is preferred
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including
  • conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra. The ability to work alone and as part of a team.

What You Will Do

  • This position is responsible for receiving orders from our wholesalers and vendors. You are expected to handle up to 50 lbs boxes and process/distribute received medications/IV fluids in various areas.
  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
  • Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
