Job Title Part Time - Speech Instructor Location Yuba College - Marysville, CA. Job Description
Description of Duties:
  • Provide instruction for the full-range of the speech curriculum that includes public speaking, interpersonal communication, group discussion, argumentation, and intercultural communication
  • Support and be capable of coaching a competitive College Forensic Program
  • Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines, and work on articulation agreements with local colleges and schools
  • Develop and maintain a relevant community college curriculum leading to certificate and degree completion in Speech Communication
  • Adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities to support student success
  • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses
  • Participate in division, college and/or district-wide committees
  • Be committed to, and participate in, the shared-governance process
Essential Duties Summary
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication OR
  • Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English OR
    • EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT: All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District (YCCD) by the application filing date. Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement. Yuba Community College District maintains an ongoing recruitment for qualified candidates to fill part-time, temporary (adjunct) faculty positions. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis, depending on the instructional and student service needs of the colleges. Applicants may be contacted throughout the year as opportunities become available. The applicant pool remains open continuously and is refreshed every two years.
