Job Description Summary
Safe Ride is a late night transportation service provided to students at Saint Leo University as a safe and free alternative to walking back to Residence Halls after dark. Two student employees- a driver and a navigator- will be dispatched from Campus Safety to pick up and drop off students from all around campus in an extended cab golf cart- "The Safe Ride."

Please note: Hiring for this position is subject to funding availability and a limited number of openings. Applying does not guarantee employment.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assisting Campus Safety by driving or serving as navigator in golf cart night shuttles throughout campus.
  • Students will work between the hours of 5:00 pm and 2:30 am.
  • Work up to 20 hours per week, with maintained availability of at least 12 hours per week.
  • Drivers will operate a university -owned vehicle and provide rides for students to and from locations on campus.
  • Navigators will have a university radio and will respond immediately and appropriately to all Campus Safety communications.
  • When drivers are not actively picking up or dropping off riders, they will wait for rides at the Campus Safety office and perform general office duties/other duties as assigned.
  • Provide courteous and friendly service to all students.
  • Drive Safely. Take very good care of your partner, riders, and equipment.
  • Create a safe and inclusive experience for students.
  • Wear Safe Ride identification as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Function:
Provide support to the Campus Safety Office by assisting with the nightly shuttles that need to be accomplished in order to keep the Campus Security and Safety Office and the University functioning as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Must be an ethical person with strong values of integrity and confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Clean driving record and capable of driving University Vans
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a DMV Background driving record check.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Enrolled Full-time in Saint Leo University's Undergraduate Program

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to Lift/move furniture weighing over 50lbs with hand-truck
