Job Description and Responsibilities
This is a part-time, on-site role as a Music Teacher serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in a school-based setting in Jonesboro, GA.
The Music Teacher will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction to students, including students in center-based classrooms. The role will focus on creating meaningful opportunities for students to participate in music while adapting instruction and activities to meet individual learning and communication needs. The Music Teacher will collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff to support student engagement and success.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and provide engaging music lessons and activities appropriate for students' developmental and educational needs.
  • Adapt music instruction, materials, and activities to support students with varying abilities and learning needs.
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop musical skills, creativity, self-expression, participation, and confidence.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff to integrate music activities into the students' educational experience.
  • Establish a positive, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Monitor student engagement and participation and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation related to services and student participation.
  • Participate in school meetings, planning, and collaboration as needed.
  • Follow district policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Education, Music, or a related field
  • Valid Georgia teaching certificate in Music Education (K-12), or eligibility for Georgia certification
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and instructional practices
  • Experience working with children; school-based teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to adapt music instruction and activities to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and student engagement skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficient in the use of technology and music-related instructional tools
  • Fingerprint/background clearance required
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, paraprofessionals, school staff, and families while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion

Physical Requirements
Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
