Description
New Student Orientation Program Assistant
Department: Student Affairs
Reports To: Director of First Year Transitions
Salary range: $20.49 - 27.28* Hourly
This position will remain open for a minimum of seven (7) days. The College reserves the right to close the recruitment at any time after the minimum posting period once a sufficient applicant pool has been established. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A.
The purpose of this position is to support mandatory new student orientation to ensure that students receive timely communication, up to date information and documents, and that administrative tasks related to orientation are completed quickly so that students do not experience minimal barriers.
Essential Functions
  • Communicate with new students regarding the new student orientation.
  • Email with students regarding orientation. Maintain the Orientation inbox up to date.
  • Answer phone calls and return voicemails regarding the new student orientation.
  • Maintain and update orientation LMS content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effective student engagement.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of LMS course content to ensure information is current; implement updates or communicate needed revisions to the Director as appropriate.
  • Create, inventory, and update materials for in-person orientation.
  • Log and monitor RSVPs for in-person orientation.
  • Schedule rooms and submit associated facilities and service needs.
  • Enter and synthesize post orientation data into reports.
  • Add and remove holds from students' accounts.
  • In ctcLink system remove service indicators for students as they complete the new student orientation.
  • Release informational service indicator and place registration hold service indicator for students having not yet completed orientation by designated time.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft products, especially Excel for data entry and analysis and forms.
  • Experience designing print materials like flyers and pamphlets
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in higher education
  • Experience using ctcLink platform
  • Experience using Canva

Additional Information
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement.This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $20.49 - 27.28* per hour. They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
This is a part-time classified position. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A ,when you have completed six months of probation, will increase 2 ranges upon a completing probation. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
Deferred Compensation Program (DRS) retirement savings plan; TIAA supplemental retirement savings plan, sick leave, paid holidays, Aflac, space available tuition waiver, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), fitness center, reduced rate, and priority consideration on-site childcare on a space available.
