Job description

General Purpose and Scope of the Position: Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time appointments hired on a semester-by-semester, as-needed basis. Adjunct faculty are responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that helps students achieve their educational goals and for delivering effective instruction and assessment using common syllabi provided by the school.

Major Responsibilities

Program Operation

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach assigned courses and facilitate student learning.
  • Provide students with the appropriate course syllabus and adhere to all syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grading records in accordance with college policies as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit required reports and information within established timelines.

Students

  • Be available to students outside of scheduled class times to answer questions and provide academic assistance.
  • Address student concerns and consult with the program coordinator when necessary to resolve issues.

Instruction

  • Meet all scheduled classes for contracted courses.
  • Use instructional technologies (e.g., Ivy Learn, PowerPoint, and other relevant tools) as appropriate.
  • Notify the program or department chair in the event of an emergency absence.
  • Conduct all instructional activities with respect for diversity of individuals, learning styles, perspectives, and backgrounds, and actively promote inclusivity as part of professional practice.

Pay: $44.64 per contact hour

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.

Required Certification:
Must possess a current Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) certification to teach Welding for the Logansport Juvenile Training Program.

  • A qualified faculty member meets the education component of the School of Technology discipline standard through one of three routes:
  • Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) and 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or
  • Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
  • Must demonstrate ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR).

*Official transcripts are required upon hire and must be submitted directly from the issuing institution to the Office of Human Resources.
