Job Description UC Health is hiring a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Nurse (CN I) for the Med Surg 7 Northwest unit for the Day Shift at UC Medical Center. The Med Surg Nurse will support the Medical Centers medicine and Level 1 Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. This 28 bed unit has ratios ranging from 4 to 6 patients per nurse.

Patients may have Internal Medicine diseases, Congestive Heart Failure, Renal disease, Respiratory illnesses, etc. About University of Cincinnati Medical Center As part of the Main Campus of UC Health, Greater Cincinnati's academic health system, University of Cincinnati Medical Center has served Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for nearly 200 years. Unit Details: Most patients are admitted from Emergency department and other transfers from Step Down/ICU units. There is also some cardiac and respiratory monitoring (telemetry). Great opportunities for growth and development in your nursing career within this unit.

Responsibilities The Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Nurse (CN I) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing.

The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.

Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice. Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.

Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms. Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit. Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.

Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit. Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
