Part Time Flex Remote information

What is a part time flex remote job?

Part Time Flex Remote jobs are positions that allow employees to work part-time hours with flexible schedules, while performing their duties remotely, often from home or another location outside of a traditional office. These roles typically offer both flexibility in the number of hours worked and when they are worked, making them ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance or those with other commitments. Common industries offering these roles include customer service, administration, writing, and tech support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a part time flex remote position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Part Time Flex Remote position, you typically need strong time management, self-motivation, and the relevant skills or experience for the specific job function. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, or project management software is often required, depending on the role. Excellent communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills for remote work. These qualities ensure productivity, reliable results, and effective teamwork when working outside a traditional office environment.

How does scheduling typically work for a part time flex remote position, and what level of autonomy can I expect?

In a Part Time Flex Remote role, scheduling is often highly adaptable, allowing you to choose work hours that fit around your personal commitments, as long as deadlines and productivity expectations are met. Many employers use project management tools or shared calendars to coordinate tasks, and while some roles require attendance at occasional virtual meetings, most day-to-day responsibilities can be completed independently. This autonomy is balanced by clear communication and regular check-ins with your team or supervisor to ensure alignment on goals and deliverables. The flexibility makes it ideal for students, caregivers, or anyone needing non-traditional hours, but it also requires strong self-motivation and organizational skills.

Job description

Software Engineer II

TITLE: Software Engineer II

FULL / PART TIME: Full Time

DEPARTMENT: Agency: Software

LOCATION: Sycamore, Illinois or Remote

SALARY RANGE: $75-$85K Salary

A UNIQUE PLACE

Work is a gift from the loving Father to his beloved sons and daughters. And yet, receiving this gift and offering it back to our Creator can be difficult due to the brokenness and frailty of our fallen nature. We seek to answer the Lord's invitation to lean into this tension as we build an apostolate entirely devoted to honoring God both with what we do and how we do it. It's not perfect because we are not perfect. And still, we persist because "he who made the promise is trustworthy." (Hebrews 10:23)

FOR A UNIQUE PURPOSE

Amidst the obvious challenges, God is doing something amazing in our world... and we are grateful to be a part of it. Just as David reached for five smooth stones when God called him to slay the giant Goliath, when God raises up leaders in the Church, they reach for 5 Stones to help them answer his call.

When it's time to clarify a brand message, solve logistics nightmares, untangle tech troubles, or break through media malaise, we're here to help Catholic apostolates get unstuck and unleashed. Join our passionate, close-knit team in Sycamore, IL, who joyfully accompany mission-driven organizations with the professional services we need to succeed.

THE ROLE WE NEED

Our Software team is seeking a Software Engineer who can work collaboratively with their design and marketing teammates to serve our mission-driven clients by developing simple, effective technical solutions that their audience can trust.

Our engineers work to build trust, camaraderie, and communication with our clients—because no one likes yelling up to an ivory tower or sifting through confusing technical jargon. We love Catholic organizations, and our technology team lives that out every day through a balance of expertise and humility.

The Software Engineer II is responsible for developing, testing, and supporting a growing portfolio of technology solutions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work collaboratively with clients, account managers, project managers, marketers, and designers to build websites, applications, integrations, and any other tech that our clients need to power their mission.
  • Communicate with clients regularly with warmth and competence to provide sound and innovative technical solutions.
  • Integration and optimization of distributed systems.

THE PERSON WE NEED

The right candidate for the Software Engineer II position will be...

  • Able to learn quickly, be highly organized, multitask, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable with high attention to detail
  • Passionate about the Catholic faith, with a deep desire to help people come to know Jesus and his Church
  • Up-to-date with modern technology, business, and culture
  • Personally committed to continuous improvement of technical skills, efficiency, quality, communication, and collaboration skills, etc.
  • Committed to ongoing personal and professional growth
  • Humble and aware of their deep goodness and dignity as a beloved child of God

And the right candidate will have...

  • 3-7 years of experience in Software Development or another related field
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science is preferred but not necessary if an applicant has the necessary skill sets from professional experience.
  • Preferably some exposure to various technologies that we work in—Typescript, React (and/or other client JS frameworks like Angular, Vue, etc), RESTful and GraphQL based API's, SQL and NoSQL Databases, Docker, Terraform, traditional MVC frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Symfony, etc)
  • An openness to give and receive constructive feedback to team members
  • An unwavering steadiness and peacefulness rooted in the Catholic identity

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive salaries ranging from $75k to $85k per year, depending on experience
  • A one-of-a-kind work environment built by a close-knit team of men and women who share your passion and vision
  • Premium healthcare and dental coverage (75% paid by the company)
  • Paid time off for Holy Days of Obligation and other feasts such as Holy Thursday and Good Friday, in addition to holidays and personal vacation time
  • A generous 401(K) plan with employer matching
  • Flex-spending account (tax-free funds to put towards out-of-pocket medical expenses)
  • "On the clock" prayer and Mass times in our on-site Chapel, where our Lord is present in the Holy Eucharist
  • A pivotal position within a growing apostolate with opportunities to hone your craft and share your gifts in evolving ways as you continue your career with 5 Stones.

LOCATION

We believe that the culture and community of 5 Stones are critically important to our mission of serving clients and helping our employees thrive in every aspect of their lives. While we would love for all of our employees to experience the dynamic culture of collaboration, prayer, and camaraderie that we have in our office, the right candidate would be extended the possibility of remote work.
