Director, Bay Area Hospital Foundation
EXPECTATION FOR ALL EMPLOYEES

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of the Bay Area Hospital Foundation provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and fundraising expertise to advance the philanthropic mission of Bay Area Hospital. This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising program that supports hospital priorities, capital projects, technology investments, patient care initiatives, and community health programs. The Director serves as the primary liaison between the Foundation Board, hospital leadership, donors, community partners, and volunteers.
The Director cultivates meaningful relationships with donors, manages major gift and planned giving programs, oversees fundraising events and campaigns, and ensures alignment between Foundation activities and Bay Area Hospital's strategic plan. Successful healthcare foundation leaders are expected to lead major gift initiatives, engage community stakeholders, oversee foundation operations, and align philanthropy with organizational priorities.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful fundraising strategies.
  • Knowledge of major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, grants, and capital campaigns.
  • Strong relationship-building and donor cultivation skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and charitable giving regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, executives, board members, community leaders, and donors.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Healthcare Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible fundraising, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, healthcare administration, or foundation management experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership or management experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and donor contributions.
  • Experience working with boards of directors and volunteer leadership.
  • Healthcare, hospital foundation, or nonprofit healthcare experience strongly preferred. Healthcare foundation leaders commonly oversee major gifts, board relations, donor strategy, community engagement, and foundation operations.
