Part Time Felony Friendly information

What does it mean to be a part time felony friendly employee?

A 'part time felony friendly' job refers to a position that offers part-time hours and is open to hiring individuals who have felony convictions in their background. These jobs are important for people with criminal records who may face barriers to traditional employment. Employers offering these roles typically assess candidates based on their skills and current qualifications rather than solely on their criminal history. This approach helps individuals reintegrate into the workforce and build stable lives after their conviction.

What types of part-time positions are available for individuals with felony convictions, and how can applicants highlight their strengths during the hiring process?

Many organizations offer part-time roles in industries such as retail, food service, warehouse operations, and construction that are open to individuals with felony records. When applying, it’s helpful to focus on transferable skills, such as reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, and to be prepared to discuss any gaps in employment or personal growth since the conviction. Employers often appreciate honesty and a positive attitude, so sharing how you’ve overcome challenges and how you can contribute to the team can make a difference. Additionally, some companies have specific programs or partnerships with organizations aimed at supporting second-chance hiring, which can be a great avenue for job seekers. Networking with local reentry programs may also reveal more opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a part-time felony friendly job, and why are they important?

To thrive in a part-time, felony-friendly position, you typically need reliability, a willingness to learn, and basic job-specific skills such as customer service or manual labor, depending on the industry. Familiarity with workplace tools like point-of-sale systems, inventory software, or basic machinery may be required, though often on-the-job training is provided. Strong communication, punctuality, and a positive attitude are important soft skills that help build trust and rapport with employers and coworkers. These skills and qualities are essential for demonstrating dependability and creating a positive work environment, which can lead to long-term employment opportunities.

In this dual-purpose role, you will provide friendly, courteous, and prompt transportation services for passengers traveling between the Granite Regional Park County and State Offices in Sacramento and the nearby light rail station.
This unique position also involves hands-on, light-duty maintenance to ensure our shuttle fleet remains safe, clean, and in top operating condition.
What's In It For You?
  • Stable Work Environment: A reliable workplace with a supportive team.
  • Work-Life Balance: Regular part-time schedule of 20-30 hours per week.
  • Competitive Compensation: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour (negotiable based on qualifications), plus benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe & Reliable Shuttle Service: Drive with the utmost care and caution, strictly complying with all applicable traffic laws. Follow the assigned route accurately, ensuring every scheduled stop is made on time.

  • Exceptional Customer Experience: Greet every passenger in a friendly, professional manner. Safely operate the shuttle's wheelchair lift when required, and ensure all interactions are highly respectful and courteous.
  • Route Integrity: Strictly limit pick-ups and drop-offs to the assigned route and designated Granite Park property. Maintain common courtesies while limiting off-route passenger interactions.
  • Procedural Compliance: Adhere strictly to all radio or cell phone usage procedures. Maintain a highly professional appearance and abide by the company uniform policy.
  • Team Support: Assist management with accurate fleet record-keeping. Be available to assist fellow drivers and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Driving Record & Background
  • Clean DMV record: No moving violation citations in the past year, and no more than two in the previous three years.
  • Ability to meet all federal and state driving standards.
  • No DUI/DWI or drug abuse convictions, and no history of a canceled or suspended vehicle operator's license.
  • No suspension or revocation of driving privileges within the past five years.
  • No felony convictions.

Health & Safety Compliance
  • Must possess or be able to successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening.
  • Strong commitment to following all safety procedures and effectively communicating them to passengers.

Skills & Attributes
  • Customer-Focused: A friendly personality dedicated to providing excellent customer service and maintaining professional communication with passengers and co-workers.
  • Punctual & Precise: Highly reliable with the ability to maintain a very exact schedule and strictly adhere to the designated route without deviation.
  • Adaptable Team Player: Flexible availability and a collaborative mindset to thrive in a great work environment.
