Job description

CES has been awarded the task of performing Tobacco Compliance Inspections in your community. We are seeking motivated individuals who want to support our mission to keep tobacco out of the hands of minors. This individual needs to be reliable, detail-oriented and ready to assist Underage Purchasers in performing non-confrontational compliance checks. You will accompany minors to various local retailers that sell tobacco products. The purpose of performing these inspection is to ensure the sale of tobacco products to Underage Purchasers is restricted preventing them reaching the youth of your community. Work is conducted on a part-time, case-volume basis, with extreme flexibility relevant to the inspector and minors’ availability.
We offer competitive base pay of $24.74 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement at the current GSA rate. In addition, this role is subject to federal service contract labor standards that provides additional compensation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Travel with your paired Underage Purchaser; to various establishments in your community.
  • Provide guidance and training to your paired minor to ensure that all inspection outcomes meet FDA standards and guidelines.
  • Accompany and/or observe undercover buys in coordination with trained Underage Purchasers.
  • Ensure that all Evidence handled is properly logged, secured and shipped as required by the FDA.
  • Responsible for completing accurate reports for every inspection completed adhering to CES's strict quality guidelines.
Required qualifications/skills:
  • All inspectors must remain employed with a State or local government agency while contracted with the program.

Preferred qualifications/skills:
  • Active member of local Law Enforcement
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to your paired underage purchaser while in the field related to completion of inspections.
  • Responsible for completing initial training with UP and keeping them up to date on FDA guidance.
Office Equipment (if a WFH position):
  • Smartphone (issued by the FDA)
  • Personal computer/laptop with high speed internet access

  • All Compliance Inspectors will complete a series of paid training courses before being cleared up to work with minors in the field.
