Job description

Job Title: Continuous Improvement Technician
Location: Salem NH
Purpose of Position:
The Continuous Improvement Technician supports manufacturing operations by driving process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This role is well-suited for an early-career professional who is eager to take ownership of improvement efforts. The technician will work closely with small, cross-functional teams and will be expected to independently lead select improvement activities. Direct engagement with shop floor operators is essential to identify opportunities and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
Essential duties and/or Functions: (Essential Functions/basic job duties that must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation):
• Support and drive daily continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing environment
• Observe production processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and waste
• Partner directly with shop floor operators to identify improvement opportunities and develop solutions
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to production performance, quality, and downtime
• Lead small-scale improvement initiatives and contribute to larger Kaizen events
• Take ownership of assigned projects from identification through implementation and follow-up
• Collaborate in small, cross-functional teams to implement and sustain improvements
• Develop and maintain standard work instructions and process documentation
• Facilitate basic root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Track and report progress of improvement initiatives to stakeholders
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards on the production floor
Required Minimum Qualifications: (Minimum/Basic level of qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the position, i.e. education,
licensure or any measurable and job-related experience):
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
• 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or a related environment
• Foundational knowledge of or strong interest in Lean Manufacturing principles
• Willingness to learn and apply tools such as 5S, standard work, and root cause analysis
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word)
• Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with team members at all levels, including shop floor personnel
Preferred/Desired Skills or Experiences: (Characteristics/Skills/Experiences that are not required but are preferred):
• Exposure to Lean concepts through coursework, internships, or certifications
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production setting (even part-time or internship)
