PRP Direct Care Staff/Counselor


Position Overview:

Responsible for assessing client’s needs and capabilities, providing supported living services, supportive counseling, skills enhancement and crisis intervention to facilitate progress towards rehabilitation plan goals and integration into community life. The PRP Direct Care Counselor works in the community, home, and office-based settings with individuals (youth and adults) suffering from mental health challenges. Services provided are individualized and based upon a detailed client needs assessment. As a PRP Direct Care Counselor, you will be able to continue your career path in the Social and Human Services field.


WHO ARE WE:?

BTST Services LLC, a CARF-accredited licensed mental health agency, provides comprehensive programs and integrated care to children, teens, and adults across Maryland. Under the BTST umbrella, Excel Youth, established in 2013 in Frederick County, offers specialized psychiatric rehabilitation services for youth ages 5-17, creating a welcoming space for clients to grow, learn, and feel supported while being encouraged to excel at their goals.

Both BTST and Excel Youth stay at the forefront of technological advancements to deliver efficient, accessible care in an ever-changing society. Our approach is individualized and strength-based, recognizing that each person’s needs and treatment modalities are unique and require tailored support.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide a minimum of 4-6 direct service sessions, per client, per month as planned for by the rehabilitation team (PRP worker and Rehab Specialist) and client.
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan (IRP) with the client every 3-6 months
  • Help clients resolve problems, identify resources and make effective use of resources
  • Teach clients independence and self-advocacy
  • Perform crisis intervention and assistance as necessary
  • Maintain client’s charts and documentation of all services in a manner consistent with agency policies and COMAR regulations
  • Perform administrative tasks as required
  • Other duties as assigned


Expectations:

  • Attend monthly meeting with supervisor or as needed
  • Attend and participate in trainings, including monthly PRP Team Meeting
  • Research and provide resources to your clients
  • Participate in on-site/off-site agency led groups/events at least 1x monthly
  • Notify supervisor of all crisis situations to help with decision making
Requirements:

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Ability to communicate with compassion and empathy

  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of cultural diversity and the special needs population
  • A degree in a health related field OR 30 hours toward a health related field

OR

  • One year of work direct care experience in a supervised mental health setting AND are responsible for implementing activities outlined in minor IRPs
