Job description

POSITION OPEN: Athletics Fields Manager (2-3 positions)
LOCATION: Berkley School District athletic fields and facilities (including Hurley Field Stadium at Anderson Middle School and all other district athletic venues)
START DATE: To be determined upon hire
HOURS: Part-Time, event-driven schedule - hours vary based on the athletic event calendar (average 3-5 hours on weekdays and potentially all day on weekends)
WORK SCHEDULE: Year-round (fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons) Predominantly afternoon, evening, and weekend hours based on game and event schedules
SALARY: $25.00 per hour





DESCRIPTION: 

The Athletics Fields Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of district athletic events held at Berkley School District athletic fields and facilities. The Manager oversees game management workers, coordinates facility set-up and tear-down, remains on-site for the duration of each event, and serves as the primary point of contact for any emergencies that arise. The Manager is also responsible for the operation of event technology (scoreboards, sound systems, video boards, and related equipment) and reports directly to the Athletic Director.


FUNCTION:
1. Oversee the operational execution of district athletic events from set-up through clean-up
2. Assign, supervise, and support game management workers assigned to each event
3. Serve as the on-site point of contact for coaches, officials, opposing teams, spectators, and emergency personnel
4. Operate and troubleshoot event technology, including scoreboards, sound systems, and video equipment
5. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director






QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to direct staff in a fast-paced event environment
2. Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and serve as a first responder during emergencies
3. Comfort learning and operating athletic event technology (scoreboards, sound systems, video boards); training will be provided
4. Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends throughout the fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons
5. Experience supervising staff, working with student-athletes, and engaging with the community preferred 





6. Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire preferred
7. Reliable transportation between district athletic venues


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assign and oversee game management workers for each scheduled athletic event
2. Set up athletic facilities prior to each event, including equipment, signage, and event technology
3. Remain on-site for the full duration of each event to manage operations and respond to issues as they arise
4. Ensure post-event clean-up is completed and conduct a damage assessment of the facility, reporting any concerns to the Athletic Director
5. Serve as the first point of contact during emergencies, coordinating with school administration, emergency services, and the Athletic Director as needed
6. Operate and maintain event technology; complete required training and remain current on the use of district athletic event systems
7. Report directly to the Athletic Director on event operations, staffing, facility condition, and incidents
8. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
