Lamar State College Orange is seeking dependable, customer-focused individuals to join our Hospitality & Events team as Part-Time Event Staff.
This flexible, as-needed position provides support for a wide range of campus events, including but not limited to conferences, meetings, banquets, weddings, community events, and special celebrations.

Position Summary
Event Staff are essential to the successful execution of campus events by ensuring facilities are prepared, guests receive exceptional service, and event spaces are maintained throughout each event. This position requires flexibility, teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to creating a welcoming experience for all guests.
Duties/Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
  • Set up and arrange tables, chairs, linens, staging, audiovisual equipment, and other event furnishings according to event diagrams and specifications.
  • Prepare event spaces to ensure they are clean, organized, and ready for guests.
  • Welcome and assist clients, guests, vendors, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor assigned event spaces, respond to routine guest requests, and communicate client needs to supervisors as appropriate.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and organization of event venues before, during, and after events.
  • Dismantle event setups and restore venues to their standard configuration following each event.
  • Safely lift, move, and transport tables, chairs, and other event equipment using proper lifting techniques.
  • Identify and report facility maintenance, safety, or security concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate effectively with Hospitality & Events staff and other college departments to ensure successful event operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support Hospitality & Events operations.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional early mornings or late evenings based on event needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in hospitality, event services, customer service, banquet operations, or related fields.
  • Current Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) certification.

Work Schedule
This is an as-needed, part-time position. Work hours are based on the college's event schedule and operational needs. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary from week to week. This position is well suited for individuals seeking flexible or supplemental employment.
Work Environment
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work and requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and moving event equipment. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions when supporting outdoor events.
