***This is a REMOTE position throughout Pennsylvania. ***

The Visiting Instructor provides specialized instruction for courses focusing on concepts for students. Student learning is the primary responsibility of WGU faculty. Visiting Instructors are subject matter experts who teach and support students. Visiting Instructors offer specialized instruction on topics in their course(s) aligned with best practices, as well as monitor and support student progress in competency development. They are responsive to learner needs and vary the type, length, method, and intensity of instruction best matched to the learner's strengths and goals. Using technology, Visiting Instructors may interact with students in both group and one-on-one settings. Instructors collaborate with other instructional and program faculty serving the students to ensure continuity and quality of support.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction on assigned topics aligned with course curriculum and best practices.

  • Monitor the course progress of an assigned group of learners in their course(s) and proactively offer support at key points of the student journey.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to customize instructional support for learners with a variety of needs and educational backgrounds

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Mustmaintainan active and unencumbered Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license to practice dietetics-nutrition in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Master'sdegree in Nutritionand Dietetics/NutritionalScience, orPublic Health in Nutrition, or Dietetics Administration. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education is verified.

  • Higher education experience providing instruction support for 2 years.

  • Industry experience for a minimum of 2 years.

  • This position requires afternoon and evening hours,upto 10 hours a week.

  • This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year).Additionaltravel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed.Additionaltravel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate or terminal degree in content area. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education is verified.

  • Experience with distance education and distance learning students.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolongedperiodssitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Works primarily from home within the continental United States and is available to travel to meetings asrequired.
