Position: Evening Bus Driver
Organization: Backfield in Motion, Inc.
Compensation: $20/hour
Schedule: Part-Time, Evening Hours (Monday-Thursday, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM; additional hours as needed for events and trips)
About Us
Backfield in Motion (BIM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of youth through academics and athletics. We provide afterschool and summer programming that combines literacy, numeracy, STEM, and enrichment opportunities for students across multiple sites in Nashville. Safe, reliable, and caring transportation is a key part of our mission to ensure that every student has access to our programs.
Position Summary
The Evening Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students to and from BIM's afterschool program sites. This individual plays a vital role in ensuring students arrive safely, maintaining a positive and supportive environment on the bus, and upholding all transportation safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a passenger bus or van along assigned routes and schedules.
  • Transport students to BIM afterschool program sites and return them home or to designated drop-off points.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Enforce safety rules and ensure students remain seated and follow proper conduct while on the bus.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and route logs.
  • Communicate effectively with site coordinators, parents, and staff regarding transportation needs.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws, as well as BIM transportation policies.
Qualifications
  • Valid Tennessee Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement required.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass required background checks.
  • Previous bus driving or commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Strong commitment to student safety and well-being.
  • Ability to manage student behavior positively and calmly.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional.
